The daily puzzle is edited by Eimi (Mike Hutchinson) and the fiendish Inquisitor puzzle is edited by John Henderson whose predecessor was the late former Times crossword editor Mike Laws.

In 2004, Paul Giamatti's character in Alexander Payne's "Sideways" whiles away the time doing crossword puzzles, and in one shot the camera comes close enough to show that a puzzle is edited by Mr. Shortz, now to be the subject of a Sundance film.
