"The housing issue is a hot button for everybody," he said.

But the end result, he said, was solid legislation on various housing issues.

We welcome the working party that has been established to deal with the housing issue.

"It's critical to the residents of the community that we work to resolve the housing issue."

He said the race would be more than a referendum on the housing issue.

He said much of the police force had undergone training on civil rights and fair housing issues.
