The last private owner was Gordon Stewart, chairman and founder of Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts.

"In the first gulf war, cancellations were overwhelming," said Gordon Stewart, the chairman of Sandals Resorts and the majority shareholder in Air Jamaica.

Financing for an initial advertising campaign, budgeted at $15 million, will come from the organization's members and marketers like American Airlines, American Express, Sandals Resorts and Visa International.

The companies also announced that they will introduce Martha Stewart Crafts classes for adults at Sandals Resorts and craft camps for families at Beaches Resorts in 2010.

In addition, the opening of Breezes Super Club and Sandals Resort also aided this turnaround.

The move to what Club Med calls the Total All-Inclusive program aligns the French chain with the industry standard; Sandals Resorts and the other major Caribbean all-inclusive chains already include alcohol and snacks in their packages.

Sandals Resorts has also posted a reward, of 1 million Jamaican dollars - about $21,000 United States dollars.
