Brest trials

The following three parliamentary elections (in 1930, 1935 and 1938) were manipulated, with opposition activists being sent to Bereza Kartuska prison (see also Brest trials).

Participants in the Congress signed an appeal which demanded democratization of the country, amnesty for politicians sentenced in the Brest trials, and changes in the Constitution.

At the same time, oppositional activities were curbed, following three new bills which limited the means of street protests and possibilities of creating new movements (see also Brest trials).

As an opponent of Sanation he was imprisoned in 1930 in Brest Fortress and sentenced in the Brest trials for 3 years in prison.

To counter the Centrolew, prior to the 1930 Sejm elections, Centrolew politicians were subjected to repressions (most famously, imprisonment in the Brest Fortress, and the subsequent Brest trials).
