A Reaper-binder, is a later version of the original reaping machine that includes the binding operation.

The reaper-binder, or binder, was a farm implement that improved upon the reaper.

Straw for this purpose (often wheat straw) is grown specially and harvested using a reaper-binder.

A later improvement showing up in about 1870 was a reaper-binder that cut the grain and tied it into bundles ready for collection and harvesting.

Generally, reapers developed into the 1872 invented reaper-binder, which reaped the crop and bound it into sheaves.
