Hind wing: subbasal band slightly broader.

The forewings have a subbasal black speck on the costa and an antemedial oblique series of three specks.

The discal spot is narrow and elongate and there is a subbasal blackish band.

It is similar to Ambulyx maculifera, but can be distinguished by the absence of a subbasal costal patch on the forewing upperside.

Forewings with subbasal scarlet line expanding at costa, an ante-medial line bent inwards to the costa and slightly edged by black on the inner side.

In addition on the same wing there is a subbasal curved row of four white-encircled spots, of which the anterior two and the spot on the dorsum are black, the other dark brown.

Hind wing: subbasal band of even or nearly oven width ; discal and subterminal pale lines obscure; postdiscal series of spots well separated, quadrate or subquadrate, very seldom narrow.

Hind wing: three subbasal spots in transverse order, a spot below the middle of the costa not larger or more prominent than the others, and an irregular discal series of elongate spots, pale brown.

Hind wing: a subbasal transverse broad band, and a much narrower postdiscal band curved inwards at the ends; beyond this the black terminal margin is traversed by a darker black subterminal line.

Hind wing: subbasal band very narrow, slightly sinuous; discal and subterminal pale lines very obscure ; postdiscal series of spots transverse, very narrow, often indicated only by a pale band.

Hind wing: the black subcostal spot in the middle of interspace 7 subequal, not larger than the three subbasal spots ; the posterior discal series of spots bisinuous, none conspicuously larger than the others.

Hind wing: the discal band of the fore wing continued as a subbasal transverse white band: a postdiscal, narrower, more or less macular band also white, and a very distinct pale, still narrower, subterminal band.

Fore wing: subbasal transverse black band somewhat attenuate posteriorly ; in the cell the preapical band subtriangular, sometimes not extended to the median vein; the terminal series of spots of the ground-colour linear as in hermocrates, posteriorly those become lunular in shape.
