Studies on human dynamic postures form the viewpoint of postural reflexes.

Working with colleagues at the University of Utrecht, he performed many experiments to find out the nature and function of postural reflexes throughout the body.

By doing so, possibly existing developmental gaps can be closed and especially the postural reflexes (postural motor system) are being fostered.

These muscles are under the control of postural reflexes which ensure a level of tonic continuing activity almost all the time (unlike, for instance, the large muscles in the arms and legs).

But sensorimotor training shows more positive adaptations in postural reflexes, which is likely due to training of sensory reception/processing, central integration of afferent information, transformation of that information into adequate efferent response.

Furthermore, he established the nature of postural reflexes and their dependence on the anti-gravity stretch reflex and traced the afferent stimulus to the proprioceptive end organs, which he had previously shown to be sensory in nature.
