Sesamothamnus leistneranus is a species of plant in the Pedaliaceae family.

Uncarina is a genus of plant in family Pedaliaceae found in Madagascar.

A number of species in the Martyniaceae (previously Pedaliaceae), such as Ibicella lutea, have sticky leaves that trap insects.

The larvae feed on Antirrhinum, Linaria vulgaris, Sesame and Scrophulariaceae and Pedaliaceae species.

Eggs are laid primarily on Bignoniaceae, Fabaceae, Oleaceae, Pedaliaceae, Solanaceae and Verbenaceae.

The Pedaliaceae genus Dewinteria is named after him, with the single curious species D. petrophila from the Kaokoveld in Namibia.

Cronquist included the family Martyniaceae in Pedaliaceae, but phylogenetic studies have shown that the two families are not closely related and they are maintained as separate by the APG.

Within the order, Bignoniaceae is in a group of eight families consisting of Thomandersiaceae, Pedaliaceae, Martyniaceae, Schlegeliaceae, Bignoniaceae, Verbenaceae, Acanthaceae, and Lentibulariaceae.

The family was included in Pedaliaceae in the Cronquist system (under order Scrophulariales) but is recognized as a separate family by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group on the basis of phylogenetic studies that show that the two families are not closely related.
