Mixed cellularity Hodgkin lymphoma.

There are four main histological subtypes of Hodgkin's: lymphocyte predominant, mixed cellularity, nodular sclerotic and lymphocyte depleted.

In contrast, only about 35% of young children with Hodgkin lymphoma have mediastinal presentation, in part, reflecting the tendency of these patients to have either mixed cellularity or lymphocyte-predominant histology.

Most patients in these series had either mixed cellularity or lymphocyte-depleted Hodgkin lymphoma, expression of Epstein-Barr virus-associated proteins in Reed-Sternberg cells, B symptoms, and a median CD4 lymphocyte count of 300/dL or less.

There were 3 females and 6 males; 5 had nodular sclerosis on histology and 4 mixed cellularity; 7 presented with stage I-IIA and 2 with IIIB, and all were treated with irradiation which included the para-aortic region to a total dose of 40 Gy.
