Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir of Israel today described the visit as "an outrageous act," saying, "It could be interpreted as a justification for crimes of which Waldheim is accused," according to news reports from Israel.

To offer revenge as a justification for crimes is to attack the rule of law, and civilization itself, and nor does revenge provide moral justification for killing people simply because they share the same ethnicity as others who perpetrated crimes.
