"They're not seeing any sharp growth, it's just slow and steady," said Ms. Zwanger of Inside Market Data.
They control about 83 percent of the $7 billion industry, with Bloomberg edging out Reuters with a 43 percent share, according to Inside Market Data.
"For Quotron to be a continuing force is almost impossible at this point," said Diana Finnegan, managing editor of Inside Market Data, an industry newsletter.
Reuters would lift Thomson's share of that market to 34 percent from 11 percent, compared with Bloomberg's 33 percent, according to Inside Market Data, a research firm.

On the personal computer horizon, Intel's biggest potential problems seem to be the disappointing results from its Intel Inside marketing campaign and the nagging possibility that the Power PC will actually make some inroads into its dominance in the so-called Intel-compatible world.
"Whether or not it's about shifting power dynamics among executives, it is symptomatic of the opening of the Bloomberg culture and the growing public influence of Grauer," said Samara Zwanger, executive editor of Inside Market Data, which tracks the financial data industry.
