A. Winter aconite, Eranthis hyemalis, suffers a bad reputation, only partly deserved.

Another diminutive bulb flower that may be one of the first to bloom is the tiny winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis).

The ground-planting around it includes Eranthis hyemalis (winter aconite), native daffodils and cowslips.

Hardy cyclamen and the winter aconite, Eranthis hyemalis, positively thrive in the dry soil ground around the base of mature trees.

This year there is a profusion of winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis) and snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) around the farm yard.

Other threatened species are winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis), grape hyacinths (Muscari species) and many species of crocus.

I'd love to plant hundreds of early low-growing crocuses and the lemon-yellow Eranthis hyemalis (winter aconite), or deep blue Scilla Siberica (Siberian squill), for washes of color across the grass.

In a bright, sunny front border, carefully chosen so that both passers-by and visiting friends can enjoy the color as much as I do, cheery yellow winter aconites (Eranthis hyemalis), gleaming white common snowdrops and soft violet-blue crocuses (C. tommasinianus) create a smashing display.
