epoophoron

The epoophoron is a homologue to the epididymis in the male.

It gives rise to the epoophoron, paroöphoron, and paradidymis.

The epoophoron and Skene's glands may be present.

In females the mesonephros degenerates entirely, though vestigial structures such as Gartner's cysts, the epoophoron, and paroophoron are common.

The ductuli transversi of the epoophoron is a remnant of the tubules of the Wolffian body or mesonephros.

Vesicular appendages of the epoophoron are small pedunculated vesicles of the fimbriae of the uterine tube, or connected to the broad ligament.

The nonfunctional remains of the Wolffian tubules are represented by the epoophoron, and the paroöphoron, two small collections of rudimentary blind tubules which are situated in the mesosalpinx.

The epoophoron or epoöphoron (also called organ of Rosenmüller or the parovarium) is a remnant of the Mesonephric duct that can be found next to the ovary and fallopian tube.

While the epoophoron is located in the lateral portion of the mesosalpinx and mesovarium, the paroophoron (residual remnant of that part of the Mesonephric duct that forms the paradidymis in the male) lies more medially in the mesosalpinx.
