Agrostemma githago (I)

The larvae feed on Saponaria officinalis and possibly Saponaria ocymoides and Agrostemma species.

The larvae feed on Agrostemma, Lychnis viscaria, Silene italica and Silene viscosa.

I also fell for Rose of Heaven (Agrostemma), a "country flower" with "satiny, cup-shaped, lilac-rose blooms with finely striped throats."

An example of a crop weed that is grown in gardens is the corncockle, Agrostemma, which was a common field weed exported from Europe along with wheat, but is now sometimes grown as a garden plant.

"Oh, the Little Fingers eggplants and the yellow-pear cherry tomatoes, the Dutch lavatera, the Chinese forget-me-nots, the old-fashioned agrostemma, the English lavender Munstead, the Sunshine giant zinnias, the Green Comet broccoli, the nicotiana Sylvestris . . ." The silence on the other end is deafening.
