There is a pair of cardinal ligaments in the female human body.

The cardinal ligaments, also prevent the inferior movement of the uterus.

Normally, the cardinal ligament is what supports the uterine angle (angle of anteversion).

It travels to the uterus, crossing the ureter anteriorly, reaching the uterus by traveling in the cardinal ligament.

The cardinal ligament (or Mackenrodt's ligament, lateral cervical ligament, or transverse cervical ligament) is a major ligament of the uterus.

The lymphatic drainage of the cervix is along the uterine arteries and cardinal ligaments to the parametrial, external iliac vein, internal iliac vein, and obturator and presacral lymph nodes.
