calling at a port

Count of ships calling at a port, not ship visits or calls made by these ships.

Exceptions to this are when a vessel is calling at a port, pilot station or destination or sheltered waters within that zone.

This Directive applies to any ship and its crew calling at a port or at an anchorage of a Member State.

The Directive stipulates that ships built on or after 1 July 2002 and calling at a port of a Member State must be fitted with:

Some lines excel at getting their passengers to the heart of the action, whether by calling at a port staging a once-in-a-lifetime event or by securing berthing rights alongside a World Heritage site.

Amendment 32 Article 6 The operator, agent or master of a ship calling at a port or anchorage of a Member State shall notify its arrival in accordance with Annex III.

Every ship calling at a port or anchorage in a Member State shall be attributed a ship risk profile which determines the degree of priority of the inspection, the intervals between inspections and the scope of inspections.

Or. fr Justification The number of inspections to be carried out for each Member State is to be calculated on the basis of the total number of ships calling at a port or anchorage of the Community or of the Paris MOU area.

Those negotiating on behalf of Parliament and the Council reached the following agreement: all ships calling at a port of a Member State shall contribute significantly (a statement from the Commission annexed to the text considers that this means at least 30% of the costs), irrespective of actual use of the facilities.
