To the Editor: While Douglas J. Besharov admits that $16,000 a year (the average wage of mothers who left welfare for full-time employment) is "not a lot of money," he nevertheless laments that these same beneficiaries of welfare reform continue to receive "welfare lite" through the remaining social welfare programs.
