Kashub

Since the 19th century Brusy was an important center of the Kashub movement.

He has also instigated the Kashub Day festival, celebrated every year on the first Saturday of May.

Yakabuski was born in Barry's Bay, Ontario, where his family had lived for more than a century after emigrating from the Kashub area of Poland.

While the empire included German settled Prussian regions formerly outside of its predecessors, it also included areas with Danish, Kashub and other minorities.

He was also one of those responsible for Mass murders in Piaśnica, where approximately 12,000 Poles and Kashub intelligentsia were killed in 1939-1940.

In 1997, he published The Saga of the Kashub People in Poland, Canada, U.S.A.

One rock originates from Wilno and the other from the Kashub region in Poland, symbolizing the coming together of the Canadian and Polish people.

He was a member of the Regional Kashub Association of Kartuzy, of the "Zrzeszeńcy" ("associationists"), and of the Kashub-Pomeranian Association.
