How is it possible that the director of central intelligence can't remember whether or not he met with the president in the month before 9/11?

"I think a national intelligence director would need the authority to move money and people quickly."

Then, after the election, the president, Congress and the new director of central intelligence should decide what changes we really need.

But questions remain over just how powerful a new director of national intelligence would really be.

In May 1995, he was confirmed as director of central intelligence.

The director of central intelligence has that charge now, without the power to do it.

He was the executive assistant to the director of central intelligence in 1995 and 1996.

No one from the director of central intelligence on down really questioned him as to what he was up to.

No doubt, Congress would quickly pass a bill creating a director of national intelligence.

This rules out any and all Republican politicians for director of central intelligence!
