A second winter in northern Baffin Bay would have brought a return of the disease and disaster.

The waters around the peninsula are that of Baffin Bay.

First was the circumnavigation and mapping of what is now called Baffin Bay.

Although ice-covered most of the year, Baffin Bay is open to ships in summer.

Both crews decided to join efforts to reach Baffin Bay.

This expedition followed the coast of Baffin Bay without making any new discoveries.

Baffin Bay was unusually ice free and on 6 August he passed the point where he had turned back in 10 years before.

They will last be seen in August entering Baffin Bay.
