The delicate blue flowers of perennial flax are too fragile to dry even in silica, if I had the patience for that.

Perennial Flax (Linum perenne subsp.

Linum narbonense (Perennial Flax or Blue flax), is a flowering plant in the family Linaceae, native to Europe, and similar in appearance to Linum perenne.

Gentle slopes on the "Maiden Paps" section support species such as blue moor-grass, common rock-rose, perennial flax and locally uncommon plants such as Frog Orchid, Autumn Gentian and Purple Milk-Vetch.

But it is wonderfully tamed with blue stokesia and blue perennial flax, and it also marries beautifully with the smoky, grayish-blue of clary sage and with the subdued purple of a perennial wallflower named Bowles's Mauve.

The eastern part of the site is undisturbed grassland which, as well as species commonly associated with magnesian limestone, has a small population of the locally-rare mountain everlasting, Antennaria dioica, and good populations of dark-red helleborine, Epipactis atrorubens, and perennial flax, Linum perenne subsp.
