Standing out from Charleston, South Carolina on 23 November 1942, she searched in the areas southeast of Charleston Whistle Buoy 2-C for about 15 miles, continuing her search next day before returning to Charleston.

The course started around New York Harbor, at Sarah Ledge, then led around the eastern end of Block Island, then around Fire Island Lightship, finishing at Montauk Point Whistling Buoy.

For example, at Boston Harbor, only the Boston Lighted Whistle Buoy B and the North Channel Entrance Lighted Whistle Buoy NC have racons (showing "B" and "N", respectively)
