International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee , CCITT (Abkürzung)

A new video-conferencing standard from the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee is just now being implemented by manufacturers.

The CCITT used to be International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee.

CCITT: International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee- An International committee that formulates plans and sets standards for intercountry communication means.

X.25 was originally defined by the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT, now ITU-T) in a series of drafts and finalized in a publication known as The Orange Book in 1976.

In view of the basic similarity of many of the technical problems faced by the CCIF and CCIT, a decision was taken in 1956 to merge them to become the single International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT, in the French acronym).
