This species has a high, oval, bright yellow body with a notal surface covered in ridges.

It is equipped with an appendage called a notal organ that appears specifically intended for rape.

This is a large species that can be distinguished by its numerous (3 to 6), longitudinal, tuberculate notal ridges.

The third axillary usually articulates with the posterior notal process and with a group of anal veins.

The first axillary articulates with the anterior notal process and is associated with the base of the subcostal vein.

When a fourth axillary occurs it has a double articulation, i.e. with the posterior notal process proximally and with the third axillary distally.

When present, it is usually a small plate intervening between the third axillary and the posterior notal wing process, and is probably a detached piece of the latter.

Its anterior part is supported on the anterior notal wing process of the tergum (ANP); its posterior part articulates with the tergal margin.

Folding is produced by a muscle arising on the pleuron and inserted into the third axillary sclerite in such a waythat, when it contracts, the sclerite pivots about its points of articulation with the posterior notal process and the second axillary sclerite.
